Teen Volunteer FAQ
When and where do I check in?
You must sign in at the Volunteer Tent located near Eddie Bauer on Main Street in Town Square. Please allow for time to get through traffic, park your car/be dropped off and get to the Volunteer Tent in order to sign in and report to your designated work area on time. The event is very popular so please allow time to make your way through the crowds. You will be provided with a Teen Volunteer t-shirt when you check in and it should be worn whenever you volunteer. After your last shift, please return the T-shirt to the bin provided.
Where do I park or get dropped off?
There are two parking garages at Southlake Town Center you can use. If you are being dropped off, Main Street near the Container Store would be convenient.
What should I wear?
Please dress appropriately. No short shorts, midriff-baring tops, or muscle shirts. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Art in the Square goes on rain or shine, so check the forecast and be prepared. You cannot leave your shift if it rains. However, if the weather is dangerous, the city will notify us and you will be asked to go to a place of safety.
Your main activity will be face painting, along with other arts and crafts. Artistic skills are not required, but a willing and cooperative attitude IS required. Adults will be there to guide you and show you how to help.
What is the activity in the Kids Korner Tent?
This kids’ area has carnival games, inflatable activities, a rock wall, and a bungee jump. Teen volunteers will take tickets and supervise activities. The teen volunteers who volunteer for the rock wall and bungee jump will require training at the start of their shift, and will work longer shifts because of this. These volunteers will get a break for pizza, provided by Art in the Square. Please do not miss your shift, as the rock wall and bungee cannot be open without enough volunteers. We are counting on you!
What are the activities in The Zone?
Do I need to bring anything with me?
Protect yourself from the sun: bring sunscreen and a hat. If rain is in the forecast, bring a rain jacket and an umbrella. Bottled water will be provided.
MOST IMPORTANT: BRING YOUR TIME CARD TO RECEIVE YOUR COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS!!
